Fibers in the Family & Classroom – Explore Fiber Podcast

Advocating for fibers as a fine art material has been a life long mission for me.  As a life long fiber artist, I have spent my life energy teaching fiber techniques and processes as well as educating the general public about the importance of fibers in our lives.  And, as an art educator in Texas, I have brought fibers into my art curriculum from the first year I taught.  When the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) standards were revised to include fibers as one of the materials to be covered in art curriculum (from 3rd grade to 12th grade), I jumped for joy!  This has started a movement in our state to support art educators in becoming more knowledgeable and comfortable bringing fibers into their art classroom.  I am very grateful that Matt and Laura Grundler invited me to talk about this topic for their podcast series, The Creatively Connected Classroom, for Education Closet. I invite you to listen to this episode (and other podcasts in the series!).  If I can assist you in integrating fibers into your life, please contact me and/or find out more about my mission at www.explorefiber.com!
