In Full Bloom

  • Exhibited in “The Loom Botanical at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas, Ft. Worth, 11/13/2020 – 1/8/2021 – Awarded BRIT Staff Award – (Artist Interviews) (Exhibition Video)

Woven metal fabric is created by weaving yarn across a wire warp.  The form is shaped by hand from individual pieces of woven metal, then assembled and stitched together with wire.  The floral sculpture is composed of four types of woven metal fabric from wire and yarn. Each element is formed to represent the organic lines of a stand of flowers out in nature. These fantasy flowers glimmer with the shine of organza, pearls, and Swarovski crystals.

Artist Statement:

Nature is a continual inspiration for artistic expression. With the continuing stresses to our natural world, artists strive to replicate the beauty and wonder of nature in their artworks. This floral sculpture captures the wonder and beauty of a stand of spring flowers, resuming the life cycle of rebirth after death and dormancy.
