Weaving with Wire Workshops

Welcome to my Weaving with Wire Workshop Page!

I have been weaving with wire as warp and weft for almost 30 years now. It has been a fabulous adventure, and I have woven hundreds of yards of woven metal fabric! It’s not hard to weave with wire, but it is a bit of a challenge learning how to tame this lively material!

Weaving with Wire Online Course & Virtual Workshop

I learned how to weave with wire from Donna Kaplan back in the mid 90s and have been weaving with wire ever since. I also love to weave cloth (I’ve been weaving almost 50 years all together!), but I really love creating 3D forms, and woven metal fabric is a great material to sculpt with! It is also a great material for jewelry, basketry, or used as a mixed media material!

There are lots of examples of my work on this website that show the versatility of working with woven metal fabric! And though I have been weaving with wire for so long, I feel like I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of the possibilities! That’s why I want to bring this knowledge TO YOU! Here are what previous participants have to say about the virtual 3 day workshop:

If you have any interest in wire weaving this is the course for you!   Christine takes you from the beginning to the end effortlessly and gives all her knowledge along the way.   I am now truly inspired to continue my wire weaving journey.   Thank you Christine for an awesome course and your friendship that also developed along the way.   Kudos on an excellent workshop that I will treasure and build upon forever. Daria M.

Christine’s workshop opened so many new doors in my weaving world. Her handouts and videos were well thought out and pertinent to the subject. This was a new way of thinking for me, I usually follow form/function, so her encouragement to play was great. I do recommend that you buy enough wire the 1st time so you can put on a 2nd warp when the workshop is over so you don’t lose the momentum of what you’ve learned. Your mind will be blown away at the cool objects you can create with a wire warp! Ginger T

What a fabulous weekend.  I want to thank you for the time and effort you put into the Weaving with Wire workshop. I came away feeling inspired, excited, and confident that I could do it again on my own. I had never participated in a zoom workshop before but I found the actual format to be easy to work within and lively enough to feel like I had been a participant not just a viewer.  There was enough time to accomplish the goals in each daily segment and your availability around the class time and by e-mail later on was very useful.  The workbook materials will be very useful and I expect they’ll be dog-eared and well loved before long. Judy D.

I wanted to thank you for including me in your first class.  First saw your earrings and since then had to learn “how did she do that”!  The Weaving with Wire class certainly fulfilled my expectations.  Instructions were thorough and any questions, comments and suggestions were answered quickly.  Looking forward to more weaving with wire workshops with Christine. Elaine C.

Fantastic workshop! Take the three day class if you can. Christine  is an art educator. She teaches the technique and sparks participant creativity. The group discussions were inspiring and supportive. My mind is thinking about the weaving as well as what can be created with the cloth! Chris H.

    • Carolyn – I’m in the beginning stages of developing the final form of the workshop. I’m doing a BETA version in April. I’ll put you on my email list and let you know when I have more information. Thanks for reaching out to me!

  1. I am an art teacher in Keller Texas and I would LOVE to be in on this as well! My students are obsessed with weaving!

  2. I’ve just moved to the beach and want to do something with the washed up fishing nets, perhaps as baskets, perhaps with driftwood. I have a tiny bit of yarn and lots of bead weaving experience. Now I need help merging materials. Do you have a class that would help me?

    • Amanda – that sounds fun & exciting! I don’t have a class, but would suggest you look on the Internet for weaving with non-traditional materials. Let me know what you find out! Thanks for reaching out to me!
